Marin Set

Comprising a table that can accommodate twelve guests (with a sculpted base partially gilded and topped with an oval glass surface) and four prototypes including two armchairs and two chairs (all with different central motifs that personalize the pieces), these items are partially gilded; I have also designed a chandelier.

This creation is playful, where humor discreetly weaves in with a touch of surrealism and hyperrealism; nevertheless, it aspires to be a work of "high quality" (one could easily envision this ensemble on a yacht, in the salon of a castle, or in any environment provided that the owners and their friends possess a grand spirit).

I created this set with the idea of imprinting a marine concept: to achieve this, the language elements were ropes (evoking links, hypothetical wraps around pulleys, the idea of tensions, as well as indicating their weight or describing their airy aspects when free and acted upon by the wind). I then mixed the old sailing ship aesthetic (the tone of wood, certain sculptures, and the intricate carvings of the wood, along with elements evoking capstans and pulleys, etc.) with the current sailing ship style and the notion of modern materials like lightweight aluminum found in either the base or as components of the seats. Surreal mechanisms, often non-functional, nonetheless evoke either poetry or humor, creating an internal dynamic within the objects that animates them.

A summary can also be found, for example, in the crossbar of the table's base, where poetry coexists with surrealism, realism, and touches of humor. Beneath the crossbar, made of gilded wood, are generously dangling round algae, while on the crossbar itself, a cluster of pointed algae supports gilded oysters, one of which is open to reveal its mother-of-pearl, or a few golden pearls are placed.

This ensemble aims to be jubilant and a joyful living experience.
