Marble Dolphin

Material : Mockup in clay - Realization in blue grey marble from Arudy - France

First I was commissioned to sculpt four great horizontal dolphins (half relief) out of stone from Frontenac ; they were fixed under the cornice of the Dolphin Hotel ; Later this client has wished a great piece for the entrance in the center of the stone scale. I have chosen the blue-grey marble from Arudy French Pyrenees ; This marble Seems to me welcome to describe this beautiful marine animal. I used the curves of the marble veins to express the study curve of may design. I used the opposition through brightness and split marble to express for the last concept : the foam of the sea and the brightness to be like the wet skin of the marine animal.

I Studied the design of the sculpture trough a mockup in the 1/3 scale and have determinate the height to 1,40 meter.
