The challenge was great, because the happy deformations on a scale of 5 meters in height, are only replicable with attenuations – then, reproducing and rubbing shoulders with the original work of a very Great, can only be a training approach or make way for “lukewarm water”.
The exaggeration of the swaying comes from a defect in the initial block of marble, initially abandoned by the sculptor Il Ducio who had planned to sculpt the prophet Jeremy there; Michelangelo used this exaggeration of the swaying for his David – thus the defect in the marble was circumvented and characterized the originality of the stature of the David.
