Conception et realization of a marble piece for the reception Doctor Honoris Causa of the writer
Mario Vargas LLOsa in the University Michel de Montaigne Bordeaux 3. The piece is now a University's acquisition. Mario Vargas Llosa has been one year later (October, 7 -2010) Nobel Price of literature.
in this artwork, I have tried to create bonds between the University Michel de Montaigne Bordeaux3,the Philosopher writer Michel de Montaigne and Vargas Llosa ; the books were the first bond between the three entities : I have put two incunabula dedicate to Montaigne, its easy to recognize his sculpted portrait on the cover of one of it; under, three other books mean the plurality of the Vargas Llosa's works, on one of them, have his name engraved on the cover ; The University is right represented, in one hand by his protector symbol, Michel de Montaigne, and on a second by a monolith where is engraved its name and anything about the event (as you can see on the pictures). All the books are organize to let a place trough them as a small niche which can close by a Plexiglas window ; Mario Vargas Llosa at the end of his reception was invited to write on a paper some sentences to let it in this little niche we closed and sealed with the stamp of the University (you can see extracts of the video) the President invite Mario Vargas Llosa to open it back to read the sentences soon as he would come back to the University.
